This is a crowdsource project to make the case for filling vacant lots instead of building sprawl.
How to play: Take a picture of a vacant lot or empty building and and tell us what you would like to see there.
Submit to: kitty@futurewise.org and tweet #insteadofsprawl.
Why? A few greedy land speculators are trying to hijack Spokane County--pushing sprawl. Our County Commissioners are considering huge expansions of urban growth into our rural lands.
Show them where urban growth should go!

Large Tracts of Vacant Land
From Larry Ackerman,
Large tracts of developable land INSIDE the existing urban growth area show that we don't need to pave over farmland to grow.
But why would people want to infill in the equivalent of first ring suburbs? It's ugly and the developers want to just focus on what is pristine, never thinking of that what they are building will also be abandoned and outmoded 20 years down the line. If we allow untrammeled sprawl, developers can build shoddy and not live with the consequences.
